Rewatching Star Trek TOS because I haven’t seen it in forever. First up: The Man Trap. Dr. McCoy’s ex-girlfriend turns out to be a salt vampire. There’s a great deal of first episode weirdness, and heavy-handed misogyny. Uhura awkwardly hits on Spock, and instead of a redshirt, they lose a blueshirt. Interesting.EDIT: make that two blueshirts
EDIT 2: and a yellowshirt named Green
EDIT 3: ironically, Kirk tells McCoy to “stop thinking with your glands.”
EDIT 4: why is Sulu a botanist and not helmsman? Also, next episode I’ll just leave the post open until I finish the episode.
EDIT 5: and there goes a guy in a spacesuit. So that’s two blueshirts, a yellowshirt, a spacesuit, and zero redshirts. Major creep vibes though when the salt vampire tried to eat Uhura. Also, there was a very hand-shaped plant puppet for some reason.
Now Sulu is on the bridge, but not at the helm. Then again, Uhura was at the helm earlier, so who knows?
This episode was written before buffalo didn’t go extinct, evidently.
And now Sulu is at the helm. I guess no one has a specific job on the Enterprise. Also, Kirk is thinking about the not-extinct buffalo, because metaphors
